Our Story
The Jolly Judge sits at the foot of an Edinburgh ‘close’, at the centre of one of the capital’s historic Old Town, just 2 minutes’ walk from the Castle.
An independently-owned bar with low beamed ceilings, a warm fire and a tranquil atmosphere – this is Scottish hospitality at its best.

The current owners have operated the Jolly Judge for over 30 years providing an oasis among the pub and brewery chains. We believe that being independent allows us to offer better products and a more friendly atmosphere.

We do our best to offer the very best that the Scottish drinks market can offer. We’re not tied to any supplier and use our independence to showcase local breweries with ‘tap-takeovers’ and rotate our real ales and ciders regularly.
